Julie Su is a nationally recognized workers' rights and civil rights expert who served in President Biden's cabinet as the Secretary of Labor where she led efforts to build worker power and union strength, negotiate historic contracts, and expand good jobs for all. Su also served as California Labor Secretary appointed by Governor Gavin Newsom and as California Labor Commissioner, where she is widely credited for a renaissance in enforcement and creative approaches to combating wage theft and protecting vulnerable workers. Prior to entering government, Su served for almost 2 decades as a community lawyer representing immigrant workers, work for which she was awarded a MacArthur "Genius" grant. She is currently a Senior Fellow at The Century Foundation.
